CCSP Exam Day: What to Bring

For the ISC2 CCSP exam, bring two valid, unexpired IDs whose names exactly match your registration and arrive at least 30 minutes early at your Pearson VUE test center; expect a palm-vein scan at check-in. The exam is a 3-hour Computerized Adaptive Test (CAT) of 100–150 items across six cloud-security domains, you cannot return to earlier questions, and you need a scaled score of 700 out of 1000 to pass.

What to bring

Bring two forms of ID: a government-issued primary ID with your name, a recent recognizable photo, and your signature, and a secondary ID with at least your name and signature (or name and photo). Both must be unexpired and the names must match your registration exactly. Phones, smartwatches, bags, and study materials are not allowed at the workstation and go into secure storage.

Identification and check-in

ISC2 delivers the CCSP in person only, at Pearson VUE test centers. At check-in, expect identity verification, a captured photo and signature, and a required palm-vein scan (unless it's prohibited by law where you test). Give yourself a comfortable buffer: ISC2 asks you to arrive at least 30 minutes early, and arriving less than 15 minutes before your start time counts as late and may cost you your seat.

The exam format

The CCSP is a Computerized Adaptive Test: 100–150 items within a 3-hour limit, adapting to your answers and ending once your result is clear. You need a scaled score of 700 out of 1000 to pass. The exam covers six domains: Cloud Concepts, Architecture and Design; Cloud Data Security; Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Security; Cloud Application Security; Cloud Security Operations; and Legal, Risk and Compliance. Note that ISC2 introduces a new CCSP exam outline effective August 1, 2026, so confirm which outline applies to your test date.

No backtracking

Item review is not permitted on an adaptive exam — once you finalize an answer you cannot change it, and you cannot skip a question to return later. Commit to each item before moving on.

Pacing

Read each scenario carefully and choose the answer that best balances security, cost, and the shared-responsibility model of cloud services. Keep a steady pace and don't overspend on any single item, since you can't come back to it.

After the exam

You'll typically learn your provisional result around the end of the appointment, with official confirmation following in your ISC2 account. Passing leads to certification requirements: five years of cumulative, paid IT experience — three years in information security and one year in one or more CCSP domains — or you can become an Associate of ISC2 and earn the experience within six years. An active CISSP satisfies the full CCSP experience requirement.
